CERTIFICATE 3 GUARANTEE – QLD GOVERNMENT

Certificate 3 Guarantee

What is the Certificate 3 Guarantee?

The Certificate 3 Guarantee program provides a government subsidy to support eligible individuals to access one subsidised training place in selected certificate III qualifications or priority skill sets.

The aim is to assist individuals to gain the skills required to secure employment or career advancement in priority industries. Employers may also be able to access training to address workforce development needs.

This Qld Government Certificate 3 Guarantee only subsidises one completed qualification per participant.

For an overview of what the Certificate 3 Guarantee means for students, view the Certificate 3 Guarantee student fact sheet (PDF, 303KB or DOCX, 420KB).

As a condition on your enrolment, you will be required to complete a student training and employment survey within three months of finishing or discontinuing your training.

What qualifications are subsidised?

Under the Certificate 3 Guarantee, the Queensland Government provides a subsidy for a range of certificate III qualifications.

Are you eligible to participate?

The program is open to any Queensland resident aged 15 years or over who is no longer at school (with the exception of VET in Schools students) and is an Australian or New Zealand citizen or Australian permanent resident (including humanitarian entrants), or a temporary resident with the necessary visa and on the pathway to permanent residency. Prospective students must not have or currently be enrolled in a certificate III level or higher qualification (not including qualifications completed at school and foundation skills training).

How can you participate in the program?

As you can only access the Certificate 3 Guarantee subsidy once for a certificate III level qualification, it is important you choose the right course for you to take full advantage of this opportunity.  To view the courses we can deliver under the Certificate 3 Guarantee go to Courses.

Do I need to contribute to the cost of training?

Given the benefits that training provides to individuals, students undertaking certificate III training are required to contribute to the costs of their training through a co-contribution fee.

The amount of your out-of-pocket expense will vary depending on the course you undertake.  For current pricing go to Course Fees.

The concessional student co-contribution fee applies to:

  • Students (or their partner or guardian) who hold a Health Care or Pensioner Concession Card
  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students
  • School students who enrolled in a VETiS program
  • Students with a disability
  • Students who are adult prisoners

Am I Eligible?

To be eligible participants must:

  • Have either finished or left secondary school
  • Be 15 years of age or older
  • Be an Australian or New Zealand citizen permanently residing in Queensland
  • Not hold or be currently undertaking a certificate IIII or higher level qualification (not including qualifications undertaken while still at secondary school)

Note that employment status is NOT a factor.

NB: Eligible individuals must understand that the entitlement under the Certificate 3 Guarantee is for one Government subsidised training place in a funded certificate III qualification. It is very important that you take the time to consider and compare your training options and costs, before signing an enrollment form or committing to a course of study which will use up your entitlement.
