This qualification provides a trade outcome in Civil Construction, covering work in residential and commercial applications.
Occupational titles may include:
The qualification has 15 x core unit of competency and 5 x elective units of competency. A total of 20 units of competency are required.
The construction industry strongly affirms that training and assessment leading to recognition of skills must be undertaken in a real or very closely simulated workplace environment and this qualification requires most units of competency to be delivered in this context.
A construction “White Card”, the general induction training program specified by the National Code of Practice for Induction Training for Construction Work (ASCC 2007) is required before entering a construction work site. Achievement of unit CPCCWHS1001 – Prepare to work safely in the construction industry (or its equivalent) covers this requirement.
It is anticipated this course may take up to 24 months to complete, depending on the delivery method and course attendance from the student. Levels of experience and any additional prior qualifications in a relevant industry may also reduce this time frame.
This course is offered via the following methods across South-East Queensland:
Flexible workplace delivery: (must be working in the industry)
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL):
Participants are to supply their own suitable protective clothing, including safety boots.
For specific eligibility requirements surrounding possible funding available go to QLD Funding.
