This qualification reflects the role of a skilled operator working with civil construction plant, who applies a broad range of skills in a varied work context, using some discretion and judgement and relevant theoretical knowledge. The individual may provide theoretical advice and support a team.

The qualification has core unit of competency requirements that cover common skills for the civil construction industry plus elective units. A total of 19 units are required (14 core units and 5 elective) from the list below. To discuss the selection of elective units please contact the course program department on 1300 852 852.
The construction industry strongly affirms that training and assessment leading to recognition of skills must be undertaken in a real or very closely simulated workplace environment and this qualification requires all units of competency to be delivered in this context.
It is anticipated this course will take up to 36 months to complete, depending on the delivery method and course attendance from the student. Levels of experience and any additional prior Qualifications in a relevant industry may also affect timeframes.
This course is offered via the following method across South-East Queensland:

Recognition of prior learning options may also be applicable depending on experience
Participants are to supply their own suitable protective clothing, including safety boots.
If undertaking as an apprenticeship, participants must have entered into a QLD Apprenticeship contract.
