RII30815 Certificate III IN Civil Construction Plant Operations

This qualification reflects the role of a skilled operator working with civil construction plant, who applies a broad range of skills in a varied work context, using some discretion and judgement and relevant theoretical knowledge. The individual may provide theoretical advice and support a team.

Occupational titles may include:

  • Plant Operator
  • Civil Construction Worker

The qualification has core unit of competency requirements that cover common skills for the civil construction industry plus elective units.  A total of 19 units are required (14 core units and 5 elective) from the list below. The construction industry strongly affirms that training and assessment leading to recognition of skills must be undertaken in a real or very closely simulated workplace environment and this qualification requires all units of competency to be delivered in this context.

Course Duration

It is anticipated this course will take up to 36 months to complete, depending on the delivery method and course attendance from the student.  Levels of experience and any additional prior Qualifications in a relevant industry may also affect timeframes.

Delivery Options

This course is offered via the following method across South-East Queensland:

  • Self-paced online learning platform
  • Classroom based lessons
  • Worksite visits at place of employment
  • Recognition of prior learning options may also be applicable depending on experience

Entry Requirements

There are no entry requirements for this course.  Appropriate personal protective equipment, including safety boots, will need to be supplied by the candidate and worn for practical activities.
