The qualification has 7 core units of competency plus 18 elective units of competency. A total of 25 units of competency are required
The construction industry strongly affirms that training and assessment leading to recognition of skills must be undertaken in a real or very closely simulated workplace environment and this qualification requires most units of competency to be delivered in this context.
A construction “White Card”, the general induction training program specified by the National Code of Practice for Induction Training for Construction Work (ASCC 2007) is required before entering a construction work site. Achievement of unit CPCCWHS1001 – Prepare to work safely in the construction industry (or its equivalent) covers this requirement.
It is anticipated this course may take up to 3 years to complete, depending on the delivery method and course attendance from the student. Levels of experience and any additional prior qualifications in a relevant industry may reduce these time frames.
