CONSTRUCTION SKILLS QUEENSLAND (CSQ)

CSQ helps the building and construction industry by subsiding training for eligible workers

Are you currently working in the building and construction industry, or have been a construction worker who has been out of the industry for less than 4 years?

As a Construction Skills Queensland (CSQ) registered training provider, Construction Industry Training offers multiple training courses that are supported by CSQ funding.

CSQ programs provide funding in building and construction qualifications and short courses. The programs are:

  • Skills Assessment and Gap Training (SAGT)
  • Higher Level Skills (HLS)
  • Short Courses (SC)
  • Apprentice Advance Plus (AAP)

Skills Assessment and Gap Training (SAGT)

If you have have skills and experience but don’t hold a formal qualification, SAGT programs will help you turn your experience into a formal qualification.

Higher Level Skills (HLS)

If you are keen to move into a higher-level role in general or civil construction, this program subsidises nationally accredited qualifications including Certificate IV qualifications. The Higher Level Skills program is targeted to existing workers in the building and construction industry to assist in career development and is designed to help you gain new skills and knowledge.

Short Courses (SC)

CSQ short courses are designed to help you update your skills and knowledge within a specific area

Apprentice Advance Plus (AAP)

CSQ’s Apprentice Advance Plus course are designed to help apprentices get fully subsidised short course and higher level skills training to boost their skills and knowledge base

Are you eligible to participate?

Eligible participants for CSQ programs:

  • must be:
    • an eligible worker*; or unemployed eligible worker;
  • and must be:
    • an Australian or New Zealand citizen; or
    • a permanent resident of Australia; or
    • a holder of a refugee or humanitarian visa
  • and must:
    • permanently reside in Queensland; or
    • be permanently employed in Queensland

* Refer to the Building and Construction Industry (Portable Long Service Leave) Act 1991 for full definitions of Existing and Eligible Workers

ALSO…for the Apprentice Advance Plus funding, participants must be:

  • a current active Apprentice or Trainee in Queensland undertaking a Recognised Apprenticeship or Traineeship; or
  • an Eligible Worker or an Unemployed Eligible Worker in the first year out of their Recognised Apprenticeship or Traineeship; or
  • a cancelled Apprentice or Trainee undertaking a Recognised Apprenticeship or Traineeship that has been cancelled and they are currently accessing State Government funding to complete their training.
  • NOTE: 1st and 2nd year apprentices/trainees are not eligible for the Certificate IV HLS programs

Do I need to contribute to the cost of training?

Given the benefits that training provides to individuals, students are required to contribute to the costs of their training through a student contribution fee.
