CONSTRUCTION SKILLS QUEENSLAND – HIGHER LEVEL SKILLS

What is the Construction Skills Queensland Higher Level Skills?

The Higher Level Skills program subsidises nationally accredited qualifications including Certificate IV. The Higher Level Skills program is targeted to existing workers in the building and construction industry to assist in career development and is designed to help you gain new skills and knowledge.

Are you eligible to participate?

Eligible participants for the CPC40110 Certificate IV in Building and Construction(Building) program:

  • must be:
    • an existing worker in the building and construction industry; and
    • an eligible worker; and
    • if an apprentice, in the 3rd or 4th year of the apprenticeship; or
    • an unemployed eligible worker
  • and must be:
    • an Australian or New Zealand citizen; or
    • a permanent resident of Australia; or
    • a holder of a refugee or humanitarian visa
  • and must:
    • permanently reside in Queensland; or
    • be permanently employed in Queensland
  • and must NOT be:
    • an employee of any Authority (excluding employees of an Indigenous Council that is a Principal Contractor); or
    • currently enrolled and participating in a school program (excluding eligible school based apprentices and trainees); or
    • contracted trainers and assessors or existing workers of any RTO; or
    • already funded by an Authority or other such source for delivery of the same training being undertaken as part of this program; or
    • previously been funded for a CSQ course in the same program period.
  • must undertake the program in the regions of Sunshine Coast, Greater Brisbane, Wide Bay or Gold Coast

Eligible participants for the RII40715 Certificate IV in Civil Construction Supervision program:

  • must be:
    • an existing worker in the building and construction industry; and
    • an eligible worker; and
    • an employee of any authority (excluding Indigenous Councils that are a Principal Contractor); or
    • an unemployed eligible worker
  • and must be:
    • an Australian or New Zealand citizen; or
    • a permanent resident of Australia; or
    • a holder of a refugee or humanitarian visa
  • and must:
    • permanently reside in Queensland; or
    • be permanently employed in Queensland
  • and must NOT be:
    • employed under an apprenticeship; or
    • currently enrolled and participating in a school program (excluding eligible school based apprentices and trainees); or
    • contracted trainers and assessors or existing workers of any RTO; or
    • already funded by an Authority or other such source for delivery of the same training being undertaken as part of this program; or
    • previously been funded for a CSQ course in the same program period.
  • must undertake the program in the regions of Sunshine Coast and Greater Brisbane

Do I need to contribute to the cost of training?

Given the benefits that training provides to individuals, students undertaking Certificate IV training are required to contribute to the costs of their training through a student contribution fee.
