This qualification provides an occupational outcome in amenity horticulture.

The agriculture, horticulture and conservation and land management industries strongly affirm that training and assessment leading to recognition of skills must be undertaken in a real or very closely simulated workplace environment and this qualification requires all units of competency to be delivered in this context.

The qualification has 5 x core units of competency requirements plus 11 x elective units.  A total of 16 units are required.

Licencing varies across States and Territories and additional requirements may be required.  Please check with your local regulatory body.

Course Duration

It is anticipated this course will take up to 24 months to complete, depending on the delivery method and course attendance from the student.  Levels of experience and any additional prior Qualifications in a relevant industry may also affect time frames.

Delivery Options

This course is offered via the following methods in various locations across South-East Queensland:

Group Based Delivery:

• 12 weeks of initial classroom training – 2 to 3 days (9am-4pm)
• Trainer support and contact provided to allow up to 12 months to complete the program.
• Study of 25 hours per week is expected for this program depending on course classroom duration times and frequency.

Flexible Delivery:

• Monthly in person trainer led workshop days (8 hours)
• Self paced project work of 10 hours per week, depending on course length

Students have access to a dedicated trainer between through face to face, email and phone

Entry Requirements

There are no entry requirements for this course.  Appropriate personal protective equipment, including safety boots, will need to be supplied by the candidate and worn for practical activities. For specific eligibility requirements surrounding possible funding available go to QLD Funding.
