AHC30916 Certificate III IN Landscape Construction

This qualification provides a general vocational outcome in landscape construction. The landscaping industry expects this qualification to be achieved to meet job outcomes at this level.

Occupational titles may include:

  • Landscape Gardener
  • Landscaping and Nursery worker
  • Parks and Gardens Tradesperson
  • Greenkeeper

The landscape construction industry strongly affirms that training and assessment leading to recognition of skills must be undertaken in a real or very closely simulated workplace environment and this qualification requires most units of competency to be delivered in this context.

The qualification has 11 x core units of competency that cover common skills for the landscaping industry plus 4 x elective units. A total of 15 units of competency are required.

Trade contractor licencing varies across States and Territories and additional requirements to attainment of this licence may be required. Please check with your local regulatory body. e.g. QBCC in Queensland

Course Duration

It is anticipated this course will take up to 12 to 36 months to complete, depending depending on the delivery method chosen or if you are undertaking an apprenticeship. Employment status and experience may reduce these time frames.

Delivery Options

This course is offered via the following method in various locations across South-East Queensland:

Group Based Delivery: (may not be available for all locations)

  • 16 weeks of initial classroom training – 2 days per week
  • Self-paced study and research
  • Study of 25 hours per week is expected for this program

Flexible Workplace Delivery: (must be working in the industry)

  • Self paced learning (suggested 15 hours per week)
  • Regular Trainer/Assessor contact through phone calls, texts, workplace visits and email

Government Apprenticeship:

  • Workplace based learning with regular trainer workplace visits (up to 6 hours)
  • Self-paced learning (approx. 6 hours per week)

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL):

  • Skills and Gap Training available to experienced industry workers
  • One on one workplace visit/s to assist with the application and undertake a personal interview and challenge tests to confirm your skills and knowledge

Students are supported with:

  • A dedicated Trainer/Assessor until the program is completed
  • Learner Guides and Workbooks

Entry Requirements

Participants will need to supply their own suitable personal protective clothing, including safety shoes.

If undertaking the course as a apprenticeship, participants must have entered into a Apprenticeship Training Contract.
